Saturday, 9 September, was a joint day for the Council of the Congregation (Sisters) and the Extended General Council (Brothers). In the morning, the Superiors General, Patricia Villarroel and Alberto Toutin, motivated us around synodality: challenges and concrete practices to advance in our sscc fraternity. In groups, we worked on the question: "What practical proposals help us to overcome the difficulties we experience in living as brothers and sisters of the Congregation? Then, the groups presented their reflections and continued sharing around this theme, where the need for dialogue, closeness, overcoming ideologies, knowing the cultures, making the relationship concrete in our day to day life, etc. was highlighted.
At the beginning of the afternoon, brothers and sisters, we discussed some topics in view of the next General Chapters of 2024, the time of common retreat and the presence of the sscc laity.
The final part of the afternoon was dedicated to the Secular Branch, with the presence of the members of the Bandung Secular Branch. Derek Laverty gave some background on the past, present and future of the Secular Branch. Goyi Marin and Fernando Cordero spoke about the recent Secular Branch world meeting. Yulia Sri Atun informed us about the Secular Branch in Indonesia and an exchange of questions followed.
In the adoration afterwards we had the presence of the sscc postulants and the members of the secular branch in Bandung.
The day culminated in a spectacular multicultural party, with music, dancing, joy and even Japanese magic - many thanks to the organisers and all those who made it possible!
