As has been the tradition for many years now in the last week of February the meeting of Spanish SS.CC brothers and sisters in initial formation takes place. It took place in Seville, where they stayed in the house in Conde Gálvez. In total the participants numbered 21: 2 formators from the sisters, 3 formators from the brothers, 12 sisters (8 novices and 4 professed) and 4 brothers (2 prenovices and 2 temporary vows).
This year, because of the impossibility of doing it any other way, and in harmony with the whole Church, the meeting was dedicated to mercy. After having read and shared on Misericordiae vultus, an afternoon was given over to an in depth visit of the Hospital de la Caridad. This is a really beautiful place that not only houses a chapel and beautiful patios but which also maintains intact for several centuries, a work of care and attention to destitute people to the very end of their lives.It has been a privilege to listen to Ginés de Mula, a brother of Juan Manuel de Mula sscc, speak of the work and spirituality of the fraternity of Charity inherited from the venerable Miguel de Mañana, whose beatification process is underway.
Later the SSCC college of St. Joseph,was visited.After the renovations of these last two years, many parts of it show a completely new face. The religious community offered the group a wonderful “ afternoon snack”. They also saw the film entitled “The lives of Grace”, about the education of youngsters from difficult situations.
The following day they visited the new community founded by the ss.cc sisters this year, in a district on the peripherary and whose mission, as well as serving the area and the parish, welcomes female prisoners with their children who have been granted temporary release of a few days from prison. They listened to the witness of the sisters as they take these first steps as a community and celebrated eucharist.
