Visit of Marcus Vinicius Maciel to Laarbeek (Netherlands)

Fr. Marcus Vinicius Maciel sscc, the parish priest of the parish of Father Eustaquio in Belo Horizonte came to Laarbeek on Tuesday 9 January to look for additional information from all kinds of sources about the life of Eustaquio. Will van den Boomen went with him to the Dutch Religious Life Heritage Centre in St. Agatha to look at the archives of the Sacred Hearts Fathers and various material about Eustaquio. The presence of the congregation in Brazil began in 1925 with the arrival of the first three missionaries, namely Eustaquio van Lieshout, Gil van den Boogaart and Mathias van Roij.

Vinicius and Will also visited Bishop De Korte to inform him and Bishop Emeritus Hurkmans about the progress of the canonisation process of Blessed Eustaquio. Vinicius is the vice-postulator for the canonisation process in Brazil and had been in Rome to consult the General Postulator of the Congregation on how the process is progressing. Every effort is being made to conclude the process before 2025, so many are curious about the progress being made.

To give the parish and parishioners, as well as other interested people, the opportunity to hear this information, a Eucharistic celebration is planned for Friday 12 January at 19.00 in Michael's church in Beek en Donk, where everyone is welcome, followed by a meeting over a cup of coffee in the sacristy.

If anyone has any private historical information about Blessed Eustaquio, it would be interesting to mention or show it during the Eucharistic celebration.
