They arrived smiling and dressed in Blessed Eustáquio T-shirts and singing the hymn "Health and Peace" composed especially in honour of Father Eustáquio: "A word of love. A strong and protective gaze. A lullaby in your voice. Hope in your hands (...) A son chosen by God the Father to be light in this place. To Father Eustáquio, we extend to you our gratitude and our love in this song".
Every August, pilgrims leave Poá, in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, for the Archdiocesan Shrine of Health and Peace, in Belo Horizonte, to pay homage and give thanks for the blessings they have received and to make petitions to God through the intercession of Blessed Father Eustáquio.
This month marks the 80th anniversary of the death of the religious leader. In his honour, 42 citizens of Poá - where the Dutch priest had lived for six years and earned the reputation of being "miraculous", due to the countless accounts of miracles attributed to him - journeyed to Belo Horizonte. Father Eustáquio was beatified in Belo Horizonte in 2006
