The annual assembly of the Union of Superior Generals (USG) was held from 24 to 26 May 2023 at the Domus Fraterna house in Sacrofano. 105 Superiors General took part in it. The theme of this assembly was "Revive the charism that is in you" (2 Tim. 1:16). The panelists were superior generals representing various realities of religious life: monastic orders, mendicant orders, congregations of brothers, and clerical congregations. Each reflected on the difficulties and ways in which the charism that animates each congregation can be a source of renewal of its mission.
Some things in particular resonated: the fundamental gesture of gratefully welcoming the charism, a gift that precedes us and which is, like a hidden treasure, present in our ministry and in our family. Religious life is a fraternal community that opens itself to God and to his gifts. The richness of the gift we have received increases to the extent that it is accepted and shared with the laity.
During the assembly, the election of the 5 delegates of the USG to the Synod on Synodality took place. Their names will be made public after confirmation by the Pope.
