Visit to the sisters of Mexico

On 21 May, Thomas Sukotriraharjo and Fernando Cordero, accompanied by Carlos Mendoza, Provincial Superior of Mexico, visited the Migrant House "El Samaritano" run by our sscc sisters in Bojay, in the Mexican state of Hidalgo. It is ten years since the foundation of this shelter for migrants travelling from Central America to the U.S.A. The brothers had the opportunity to learn about the attention given to migrants in this house, as well as to talk with them and serve them at lunchtime under a tree. Honduran migrants told how recently five young people from their country had died on the train "The Beast" after entering into a toxic wagon. Likewise, the sisters have witnessed the death of another young migrant who, trying to board the train when it was travelling at high speed ended up cut in half by the engine.  These are truly hard life stories to which our sscc sisters respond generously every day. At this time our sisters also want to establish a house for volunteers near the Casa del Migrante in Bojay, and for this they are looking for help.

Afterwards, the brothers went to Atotonilco de Tula, very close to Bojay, where the only community of sscc sisters in Mexico is located. There they saw first hand the catechetical and liturgical work that is taking place in the parish. After this they gathered at table and had a long sharing on the many issues of the life of the Congregation in Mexico and further afield
