SSCC Sisters in front of La Bestia (Mexico)

In this interview we visit the house for migrants "El Samaritano" in Bojay (Mexican state of Hidalgo), which is coordinated and run by an international community of SSCC sisters: Mª Luisa Silverio, Teresa Lazcano, Mª Antonieta Silva, Gloria Gaspar and Nélida Cayllahuya. Each month the sisters attend to an average of 1300 young people who arrive at the house to board "The Beast", the train on which many lose their lives or limbs to reach the border with the United States. The shower and the food we offer them revives them," says Mª Luisa. Even Pope Francis has sent them a donation so that they can have socks, toothbrushes and other items of clothing.

In this community, the sisters take care of each other in order to carry on a mission that is exhausting and emotionally affecting. They feel very much in touch with what the Pope develops around the figure of the Good Samaritan in Fratelli Tutti. They also collaborate pastorally with the Parish of Santiago Apóstol in Atotonilco de Tula. All that they carry out, anot forgetting the management and search for resources, is a work that involves both the time and the heart of these passionate sisters.
