“Here I am, Lord” (GM)
On the 4th September, 2007 at 1p.m. our sister María del Consuelo (Laura Judith) Coello Román went to the house of God.
Consuelito was born on the 18th March, 1915 in Zaruma (El Oro) Equador, she was baptized and confirmed on the same day; her parents were Baltasar Coello and Consuelo Román.
She entered the Congregation in the city of Cuenca, began her postulancy on the December 8th, 1937, her novitiate on November 24th, 1938 in Rumipamba – Quito. She made her temporary vows on December 24th, 1940 in Rumipamba – Quito and her final vows on December 24th, 1945 in Rumipamba – Quito.
She taught in: Cuenca, Quito Centro, Pereira-Colombia; as headmistress in Salinas; in Rumipamba – Quito she was in charge of the laboratories and in Guayaquil of the Religious Studies.
Consuelito was always very devout, as remembered by her former pupils: “we always prayed to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at the beginning of each class.”
She was very careful, responsible and precise in all that she was asked to do.
Her final years were spent in the Guayaquil community; in 2000 her health began to deteriorate, and in spite of her delicate health, she was always faithful to community prayer, praying for her sisters and brothers, and above all to Adorations and the Eucharist.
Our dear Consuelito was a woman who was attentive to the needs of the sisters, simple and welcoming to those who came to the community.
After a long illness, Consuelito went to her eternal home in deep peace and we have no doubt that she is with God. However, we ask that you offer for her the prayers prescribed in our Constitutions.
