The young "missionaries" left Patrocinio to go to Rio de Janeiro, the venue of the World Youth Day. It was a long journey of 24 hours, with two stops: Pindamonhangaba and the shrine of Aparecida.
Let's talk about the Eucharist of missionary sending. It was presided over by Bishop Claudio. In his homily he urged young people to be open to the Holy Spirit and to live the welcoming attitude following the example of Abraham and Martha. However, he insisted that young people choose the best part of being with Jesus and to live their faith in Jesus Christ.
In Pindamonhangaba, the youths had a time of prayer with the parishioners at the former apostolic school of the brothers, which is now a center of spirituality. They then had breakfast hosted by the brothers who work in the parish of Pindamonhangaba. To remember the passing of these young "missionaries" in this parish, a tree was planted. It has been called the "tree of youth."
From there, the 8 buses transporting youths stopped at the Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida for a moment of meditation, prayer and spiritual tourism. At nightfall, the youths went on to Rio de Janeiro.
Today, July 23, Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro, Dom Orani presided the opening Mass of World Youth Day. The Mass was held in the plaza of Copacabana beach.
