About forty pilgrims from Tahiti travelled on Friday, November 8, to the island of Fakarava to participate in a five-day pilgrimage to mark the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the construction of the “Maria no tehau” church (Our Lady of Peace) in Tetamanu.
The delegation, including Father Ferry Tobe sscc, joined the pilgrims from Fakarava and Faaite, who were already in Tetamanu.
The parishioners of St. John of the Cross and Father Auguste, the initiator of the project, gave them a warm welcome with songs and flowers.
Our Lady of Peace Church “Maria no tehau”, is the first Catholic church in the Tuamotu archipelago, built of coral in 1874, and recently restored.
