Summer community days and provincial retreat (Poland)

From July 26 to 31, 2026, the Summer Community Days and the Provincial Retreat of the Polish Province of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts were held at the Christ the King Monastery in Polanica-Zdrój.

The gathering opened on Sunday evening with a fraternal recreation, giving the arriving confreres a chance to meet, renew friendships, and enter into a spirit of community.

Monday was devoted to the Community Day. It began with a conference by the Provincial Superior, Fr. Leszek Gólczynski, who presented Pope Leo XIV's encyclical Magnifica Humanitas. Fr. Radoslaw Ziezio then spoke on the biblical meaning of the Jubilee in connection with the centenary of the Christ the King Monastery, and Fr. Kamil Wawro shared a report from the meeting of the Conference of European and African Major Superiors. The Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Henryk Deren, with the homily preached by Fr. Kamil Wawro. In the afternoon, some confreres made a pilgrimage on foot to Stary Wielislaw, where they prayed at the graves of deceased confreres. The day closed with a shared supper and recreation.

On Tuesday, Fr. Piotr Budrewicz spoke on the monastery's centenary in light of archival sources and the province's missionary work, followed by a presentation from Fr. Tomasz Pawlukowski on Fr. Ladyslaw Dudzikowski, one of the pioneers of the Polish province. Fr. Wojciech Bartnicki reported on the meeting of those responsible for youth ministry in Europe and Africa. The Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Leszek Gólczynski, with the homily delivered by Fr. Krzysztof Wasiuk. That evening, during Vespers and the hymn to the Holy Spirit, the Provincial Retreat officially began. As the original retreat director was unable to attend, the program was adjusted, and the opening conference was given by Fr. Zdzislaw Swiniarski, who invited participants into a time of prayer and silence.

On Wednesday, Fr. Krzysztof Herbut delivered two conferences on the human heart as the dwelling place of Christ, calling participants to place Christ at the center of their lives rather than anger, wounds, or worries.

Thursday, dedicated to reconciliation, was led by Fr. Fabian Kaldbach, OFM, who preached two conferences and the homily, drawing on insights from his religious and pastoral ministry.

The retreat concluded on Friday with a final conference and homily by Fr. Zdzislaw Swiniarski, who encouraged participants to carry the fruits of the retreat into daily life.

Each day was centered on the Eucharist, common prayer, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and the sacrament of reconciliation. Shared meals, conversations, and recreation strengthened fraternal bonds and deepened the sense of communion within the Province.
