The Region of India is blessed with her 21st priest, Fr. Sujay Sardar, sscc. The ordination took place on May 19, 2015 at 10:30 am at the church of St. Teresa of Child Jesus, which is also his home parish at Basanti, West Bengal. There was one more deacon for the diocese of Baruipur who was ordained to priesthood along with Fr. Sujay. The ordination ceremony was presided by Rt. Rev. Salvador Lobo DD, the Bishop of Baruipur diocese.
The bishop exhorted them with an inspiring homily whose main thrust was to be holy priests not for themselves but for the Church. He also encouraged the faithful to prepare their children for the future ministry if they wish to see the Church grow in the land. Vocation to priesthood is not a readymade cookie, but a long preparation, and parents play a vital role in that preparation.
The brothers and sisters from Kolkata area witnessed the ceremony. The new sscc priest celebrated his First Thanksgiving Mass on the following day; it was a beautiful liturgy where the whole Eucharistic celebration was being sung. Fr. Sujay urged us all to journey with him with our constant prayers as he started a new life. We implore God’s blessing and strength on him to carry out the mission he has been entrusted with.
