The SSCC brothers in Fairhaven (USA) and Sister Claire Bouchard sscc, gathered to discuss the second chapter of Dilexi Te, Pope Leo XIV’s Apostolic Exhortation on compassion for the poor, titled “God Chooses the Poor.”
During the meeting, participants shared pastoral experiences and reflected on the need to approach those in need with love and dignity. They addressed different realities of poverty, from nursing homes to people living on the streets, emphasizing that financial aid alone is not enough: closeness, dialogue, and presence are essential.
Concrete initiatives were also highlighted, such as Damien’s Pantry, a project serving vulnerable people with the support of volunteers, as well as pastoral experiences in Rome and the Bahamas aimed at including those often marginalized by society.
The group will continue their study in January with the third chapter of Dilexi Te, reaffirming their commitment to living a Church close to the poor.
