The finance commission of the CEA met on April 25th and 26th at the Provincial House of the Iberia Province in Madrid. The meeting was convoked and chaired by Derek Laverty, the coordinator of the CEA, he also represented Andy Wafer the Provincial Econome of Ireland-England.
The meeting was attended by Alex Aarts, the lay administrator of the Netherlands, Paul Aerts (Flanders), José Manuel Belza (Iberia), Álvaro de Luxán (former Econome of Africa), Christian Flottes (France), Martin Königstein (Germany) representing Manfred Kollig, Ryszard Koscicki (Africa) and Ed Popish (General Econome). In addition to presenting the annual reports of the provinces for 2011 and reviewing the Initial Formation budget of Africa, the group reviewed and commented on the proposed “Manual for Provincial Treasurers”, reviewed the 37th General Chapter’s decisions which created the IC Finance Commissions and made an evaluation of the function of this commission in light of those decisions, and looked at the trends of income in the CEA over the past six years. It also continued the dialogue which began two years ago around the present and future challenges facing the major communities in Europe and some of the steps which have been taken to confront these challenges.
