On Friday 4 September 2015 at 18:00, during a Eucharist at the Cathedral of Papeete, Jean-Pierre Cottanceau signed the decree that appointed him Administrator Apostolic of the Archdiocese of Tahiti, in the presence of Archbishop Emeritus Mgr. Hubert Coppenrath.
Present for the event were Christian Malrieu, Provincial, Ferry Namang of Moorea community and all the brothers of the community in Pirae. The choir of the cathedral punctuated the celebration with polyphonic singing.
With great emotion Jean-Pierre expressed his confidence that the archdiocese is with him to fulfill his new responsibility and to prepare the path for a new archbishop.
After the Eucharist a celebratory drink was offered to all participants. It was time for Jean-Pierre to don the flower and shell leis as a sign of honor and recognition!
