
The newly formed General Finance Commission held its first meeting in Rome on February 15 and 16. The members of the Commission are

In the first session Ed and Manfred gave an overview of the world-wide structure of the SS.CC. brothers’ and we reviewed the 37th General Chapter’s first 7 decisions on Finances. In subsequent sessions we discussed the development of an investment policy for the Generalate, some recommendations to provide to the Provinces in developing their policies, various modes of managing investments, and reviewed some particular types of investments. We also reviewed the Balance Sheet as of December 31, 2007 and recommended some adjustments. We also reviewed the common reporting of the Province balance sheets and came up with some recommendations for changes to that formula.
The next meeting will be held on October 9 and 10, with a time to meet with the General Council.
