Gathering of the SSCC Brothers, Sisters and Laities in Paray-le-Monial (France)

As the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy coming to a close, a gathering of the SSCC French Brothers and Sisters with the Laities who share the devotion to the Sacred Hearts was held in Paray-le-Monial, from the 11th to 13th of November 2016.

Being the place where Jesus revealed his heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1673 (in several apparitions in a period of 18 months), Paray-le-Monial was a suitable venue for the encounter with the theme “At the source of Mercy”.

The program was well coordinated by the organizing team of Gabriel Phalip sscc, Bernard Couronne sscc, André Mark sscc, Olivier Michel and Marie-Josèphe Verrier.

The theme of Mercy was highlighted with three conferences: “Mercy and the Consecrated Life” by Fr. Bertrand Cherrier sscc; “Mercy and SSCC Spirituality” by Fr. Bernard Couronne sscc, and “Mercy and the Family” by Mgr. Guy Chevalier sscc.

There were 53 participants in total, including SSCC members, Sr. Thérèse de Vallois who animated the liturgies by leading the singing with her beautiful voice, Sr. Marthe Duhaime, Fr. Lucien Adami, Fr. Jean-Claude Marjou, Fr. Jean-Marie Olivier, and Fr. Remi Liando from Rome. The two SSCC postulants, Henri Beaugrand and Quentin Huillard, were also actively participating in the event.

The event culminated on Saturday night with an all-night adoration, an SSCC special calling and tradition that was faithfully kept in the past especially by our sisters in each of their communities for many years. It was a touching sight to see the sacred hours are coming alive with the participation of the laities who are devoted to the Sacred Hearts.

The three day gathering was closed with a Eucharistic celebration by Mgr. Guy Chevalier at the Chapel of Colombière. Let us hope that there will be more gatherings of the Sacred Hearts brothers, sisters and laities in the years to come.
