Reflecting once more on the lives of four witnesses held dear by the Congregation brought together the staff of the Sagrados Corazones School in Viña del Mar, known as the French Nuns, one of the schools run by the SSCC sisters in Chile.

In various sessions, participants explored the spirituality of the Congregation through stories and memories that brought to life María del Carmen Pérez Walker, María Olga Mardones, Esteban Gumucio and Blessed Eustaquio.

Mariela Albornoz sscc spoke of María del Carmen Pérez’s commitment to the poorest and to human rights, alongside her contribution to the Congregation’s history and spirituality. The books she had written, which Mariela brought to the gathering, offered an insight into how she preserved and passed on the Congregation’s history through her writings.
Beatriz Montaner sscc remembered María Olga Mardones as an ‘educator of the heart’, whose life united contemplation, adoration and service. Her drawings, a notebook and a handbag accompanied the account, bringing the memory of this former teacher at the school closer to us.
Rafael Domínguez sscc introduced Esteban Gumucio through excerpts from a documentary that allowed the audience to hear him in his own voice, alongside the homily given by Pablo Fontaine sscc at his funeral. He also shared personal memories of their fraternity and his way of living in community.
For her part, Raquel Ayala, a Paraguayan SSCC postulant, gave the participants an insight into the life and legacy of Blessed Eustaquio.

The occasion was received with joy and gratitude, as these concrete stories of faith and dedication continue to inspire the community’s educational mission and daily life.
