Feast Day of St. John Francis Regis - 16 June

On 16 June,  the Congregation celebrates the Feast Day day of St. John Francis Regis.

This holy Apostle of La Louvesc (1597-1640) was venerated by the Good Father and the Good Mother and chosen as one of the Congregation’s patrons and in particular was gifted to the Secular Branch of the Congregation.

“I bent low under the precious bones of the glorious Saint Regis, my dear friends. The translation took place in a wonderful ceremony. From 8 – 1pm, we left neither the saint nor the Church. I had the consolation, along with the administrator of the Diocese, of carrying them on my shoulders for more than a half hour. I remembered you all, and you must not doubt that I went there with good heart.”  (Good Father writing to Poitiers: 15/7/1802)

“I forgot to tell you that there will be an assembly (of the externs) on the feast day of St. Francis Regis (Do you recall the Rule of 1793!). We must inform the Sisters in advance that it is in honour of the Saint who protects us in a special way. It is not by chance that we have been established in the diocese where his greatly venerated tomb is”. (Good Mother writing to Poitiers, 29/4/1803)

Collect Prayer

O God,
strength of those who hope in you,
graciously hear our pleas, and,
since without you mortal frailty can do nothing,
grant us always
the help of your grace,
that in following your commands
we may please you
by our resolve and our deeds.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ,
your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God,
for ever and ever.
