The Closure of the SSCC International Juniorate of Latin America (Srs)

“Everything in life has its ending so as to give way to a new beginning”

On the 15th February the closure of the meeting of preparation for final vows of the sisters in Latin America took place.

The Conference of Latin America organized this meeting of peparation for perpetual vows in Viña del Mar, Chile, from the 15th December 2015 to the 15th February 2016.

The general objective has been to bring about an intense time of interiorization, reflection and prayer which would help to gather all that had been lived during the years of initial formation, and prepare for final commitment in the Congregation. Sisters Celsa Medina, from Paraguay and Marta Montesinos from Chile coordinated this meeting.

A total of six sisters in temporary vows from different countries in Latin America participated: Jeanneth Rocío Molina Altamirano, from Ecuador, Amelia Mera Silva, from México, Nélida Condori Calle, from Bolivia, Paola Cristina Reyes Meza, Paraguay, Graciela Garay from Chile y Benita Calderón from Perú.

The sisters relate the end of this meeting:

As we draw this brief journey of intense preparation to a close, we gather all the newness that we have discovered through the meeting in each theme of reflection and prayer, in the workshops, the desert times, the experience of mission in a place where the people were devastated by the time of floods, the retreat…In all of this we were able to confirm that our ss.cc charism and spirituality is our inspiration and our strength to go out to meet others, especially those who are poorest , beaten and suffering…

To sum up, we have allowed the way that we are called to honour and glorify God with our vocation and mission, from the charism that we have received from our founders to be illuminated. We turned our gaze back to look at the origin of our institute and there in the source of spiritual experience which unites us, we have been renewed  so that we can continue moving forward in our process of formation, welcoming and living new challenges and commitments with the Congregation.

The Lord is sending us back again to our respective provinces, strengthened and convinced  in carrying out the mission that will be shown to us in daily life.

“…and we have known and believed in the love that God has for us. God is love and he who remains in love, remains in God and God in him.” We are certain that the gift of the ss.cc charism comes from the infinite source of the Merciful Love of God who will continue to do his work in the Congregation.

We leave here very grateful to the Congregation, to each sister and brother from every part and presence for having accompanied us closely with your prayers, closeness and love.

May the Sacred Hearts bless you today and always!
