Communication and Synodality with the priests of Jerez (Spain)

On the occasion of the feast of St. John of Ávila, patron saint of secular clergy in Spain, Fernando Cordero, sscc, invited by the diocesan bishop Monsignor José Rico Pavés, delivered a talk to the priests, deacons, and seminarians of the Diocese of Jerez, titled: “Priests who also communicate the Gospel through the Internet in times of Synodality.”

This day of fellowship took place in the magnificent setting of the Church of the Monastery of the Charterhouse of St. Mary of the Defense. The talk explored several essential aspects of communication in pastoral life, with a special focus on transformative narratives, the use of artificial intelligence, and the need to bring the synodal process down to earth in the concrete realities of dioceses and parishes.

The day also included a remembrance of St. Damien of Molokai, whose liturgical feast coincides with that of St. John of Ávila.

The presentation began with a reflection on the newly elected Pope Leo XIV, analyzing his communication style from his first appearance at the central loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica, highlighting his closeness and evangelical depth.
