Canonical Visitation to the USA: Hawaii

As they conclude the canonical visit the thoughts and prayers of Alberto and Derek are with the people of the island of Maui who have suffered so much following a devastating fire that has killed more than 65 people.

Their last days in Hawaii saw them visiting the brothers in their respective communities, namely the parishes of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Pearl City, St. Augustine’s in Waikiki, St. Anne’s in Kaneohe, and the brothers living in Bethany, Kaneohe.  There was also time to call to see Albert Garcia who is being cared for in a family home in Waipahu.  On Thursday, in St. Patrick’s Monastery, Alberto and Derek presented to the brothers the report of their visit.  After the presentation of the report there was a time for clarifications and question.  This was followed by a gaudiamus and lunch. Present at the lunch were Wojciech Kotowski (Provincial of Poland) and Marek Szymula who are visiting Hawaii at this time.

On Friday, 11th August, Alberto and Derek met with the Provincial Council of the USA Province and later that day they joined Bishop Larry Silva for lunch.

In the evening brothers once again gathered for a social and to say their goodbyes to the visitors.

Lunch and a meeting with our SSCC sisters is planned for Saturday.

Mahalo nui loa! Aloha.
