The first Assembly of the Province of USA took place from 7 to 10 October 2013 in Malibu, California, at Serra Retreat House belonging to the Franciscan friars.
The Assembly was attended by almost all the brothers of the Province, including some brothers of the Region of India. Also present were two sisters from Hawaii, a few brothers of USA West Delegation and Camille Sapu, the vicar general. The central theme of the Assembly was "That We May be one."
On the first day, the Provincial Superior, Johnathan Hurrell, explained that it was an important moment for the Province; the first Assembly after the merger of two Provinces (Hawaii and USA-East). This is also an opportunity to see and reread the history of the Province in order to make projection for the future (the preparation of the next Provincial Chapter).
