Brothers from the Damien Formation Center in New Manila (Quezon City) took part in the celebration of the 23rd anniversary of the canonical erection of the Diocese of Cubao, home to the SSCC Scholasticate Community in the Philippines. The diocese was erected under the pontificate of St. John Paul II and has since been a reference point for SSCC formation communities, both brothers and sisters.
The Congregation was represented by Fr. Bonifasius Payong, SSCC, local superior and Area Coordinator for the Philippines, together with Br. Michael Cuong sscc, and Jan Michael Abueg sscc. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Most Rev. Elias Ayuban, CMF, with concelebrating priests from the Diocese of Cubao, and was attended by members of religious communities, both men and women, as well as lay faithful, in thanksgiving for the divine blessings bestowed on this ever-growing diocese.
The day also marked the Convocation of the First Diocesan Synod of Cubao, in preparation for its 25th anniversary, to be celebrated in 2028. This year the diocese is in a preparation phase, both logistical and spiritual, ahead of that anniversary.
The active participation of the SSCC community, together with other religious communities and the laity, in the Convocation of this First Diocesan Synod highlights its commitment to collaborating with the local Church in its mission of making Christ known and loved.
