Anniversary of Father Eustaquio's beatification (Brazil)

From the early hours of Sunday 13 June, hundreds of devotees prepared for the day's celebrations. Around 9:00 a.m., a procession with the image of Blessed Father Eustaquio made its way from the Sanctuary of Health and Peace to the Cathedral of Christ the King in Belo Horizonte.

In the church, which is still under construction, the faithful arrived very animated and singing a hymn to Eustaquio.  A very festive atmosphere accompanied the celebration of the Holy Mass.

The ceremony was presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Belo Horizonte and president of the CNBB, Dom Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo, who in his homily highlighted the reason why Father Eustaquio and Saint Anthony (saint of the day) became examples of holiness. The archbishop also stressed the importance of always greeting each other with the same expression with which Blessed Eustaquio greeted people: “ Health and peace".

Broadcast on TV Horizonte and on the Father Eustaquio Channel on YouTube, the Holy Mass attracted the attention of devotees from all over the country. At the end of the celebration, the faithful at the Cathedral of Christ the King also took part in a festive lunch.

In the afternoon, the neighbours of the Padre Eustaquio neighbourhood welcomed the procession carrying the image of Eustaquio and also an of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, whose solemnity and feast day, respectively, were also celebrated this weekend. At the end of the procession, the vice-postulator of the Cause of Canonisation, Father Vinicius Maciel sscc, gave the blessing to those present, thanking everyone for their commitment and participation.
